Films!

I saw 'Miss Potter' at the cinema last week (I think it was last week? I don't know about time anymore) and really enjoyed it. I don't know how accurate it is, but it was certainly a lovely story and ReneƩ and Ewan were great in it. It's a really nice, cozy film. Beatrix Potter comes across as an independent, strong role model and I liked that.

I bought 'Memoirs of a Geisha' on DVD a while ago, and although the first time round I didn't understand parts of it, it was a lot better when I re-watched it. It is a bit complex and it's certainly not my favourite film, but it's a nice story. The ending feels a bit rushed/cheesy though, and parts of it are certainly not very accurate as to how a real geiko/meiko would behave. But it's a decent film all the same. I now have a copy of the book, which I have yet to read, so I'll see whether that's better.

Still not much to report, really - last week I had two exams and had to hand in an essay, too. I don't think my essay and one of the exams went well, and the other exam I didn't turn up for. Not really sure what will happen; I may be able to retake in August, but my marks may be capped at 40% (a pass). I'm quite disappointed and annoyed with myself - I worked so hard only for it all to go down the drain in the last week or two.

Next term I'm studying Latin, which is 10 hours for 3 weeks. It doesn't count towards my degree, it's a course for postgrads but they opened it to undergrads as well, but I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be difficult and quite intensive, though, but it'll be a bit of a break from all my other assessments that are due in.

I'm still alive! And I have a new haircut, too. This time, done correctly.
